Scope
Pune is changing rapidly. As the city grows and its landscapes transform, it is increasingly important for young people to understand and care for the rivers, hills, biodiversity, and ecosystems that shape Pune. Through its Environment & Sustainability initiatives, the Pune Knowledge Cluster (PKC) is taking a step towards building climate and environmental literacy among children and communities.
Vision
To expand EcoSTEM Clubs across Pune and nurture a generation of climate-literate, environmentally responsible, and resilient citizens who understand their local ecosystems and contribute to a sustainable future.
Mission
EcoSTEM Clubs are student-led platforms that turn schools and their surroundings into living laboratories. Through simple, hands-on STEM activities, students learn to observe, question, investigate, and act while developing a deeper understanding of their local environment.

Activity 1: EcoSTEM Introductory Session at School
PKC offers a free 2-hour introductory EcoSTEM session for schools in Pune City, on request and subject to team availability.
The session introduces students to Pune’s ecosystems, biodiversity and environmental challenges through engaging discussions and simple activities that encourage them to observe and document nature around their school and neighbourhood.
The session can also serve as a starting point for schools interested in establishing an EcoSTEM Club with minimal resources.

Activity 2: Science & Art Competition: Imagine Pune 2030
What will Pune look like in 2030?
Imagine a greener, healthier, inclusive and sustainable Pune and express your vision through art.
Students can explore themes such as biodiversity, water, climate change, mobility, waste, clean energy, green spaces, future schools and sustainable neighbourhoods, or present their own innovative solutions for Pune.
Your imagination can become your voice.
Art provides an inclusive platform for students to communicate ideas beyond language barriers through visual expression and creativity.
Who can participate?
Students of Grades 5th to 12th from government, aided, private, PMC, PCMC, KV and other schools, across all mediums of instruction.
Submission Guidelines
Drawing, painting, sketching, digital art, mixed media and other art forms are welcome.
Include 4–5 lines explaining your idea in Marathi, Hindi or English.
No restriction on art medium.
Last date: 10th October 2026
Selected innovative ideas may be recognised and shared with relevant government authorities.

Activity 3: Literature & Creative Expression
My Pune, My Future: Imagine Pune through words, stories and creative expression.
Students can share their perspectives on Pune’s ecosystems, biodiversity, environment, culture and future through:

Creative Essays
Photography
Reels
Students can also document Pune’s natural world through photographs/videographs of its rivers, hills, trees, wildlife, urban biodiversity and environmental stories.
Who can participate?
Students of Grades 5–12 | All school types | All mediums of instruction
Selected artworks, photographs, and literary works will be featured on the Pune Knowledge Cluster website, along with the student’s name and school.
Outstanding and innovative entries will receive exciting prizes, and selected ideas may be shared with relevant stakeholders to encourage greater student participation in conversations around Pune’s future.
