PKCF is established by the Office of the Principle Scientific Adviser to the Government of India and is one amongst eight S&T clusters in the country.
Role Summary:
We are seeking a hands-on Civil Engineer to conduct site surveys and prepare comprehensive
survey reports for water conservation projects. Responsibilities include generating Computer-
Aided Design (CAD) drawings for the sites, supervising the installation of monitoring equipment,
and overseeing the construction of water conservation structures.
The successful candidate will be responsible for translating design specifications into tangible
physical implementation, managing contractors, and ensuring rigorous quality control at the
project sites. Key areas of focus include the physical implementation of permeable pavements,
rain gardens, recharge pits etc.
Key Responsibilities:
- The Civil Engineer will be responsible for conducting detailed Site Surveys to inform the
planning and execution of water resource management and irrigation projects. This involves a
comprehensive assessment of various geographical and hydrological features: - Water Bodies Survey: Meticulous surveying of existing and potential water bodies,
including lakes, ponds, tanks, and reservoirs, to ascertain their current state, capacity,
and potential for rehabilitation or expansion. - Surface Runoff Analysis: Utilizing topographical data, hydrological models, and field
observations to assess the quantity, velocity, and pathways of surface runoff within the
project area for planning soil and water conservation measures. - Storage Potential Assessment: Calculation and determination of the theoretical and
practical water storage potential for both existing water bodies and newly proposed
storage structures. This includes estimating the volume of water that can be harnessed,
considering factors like catchment area, rainfall intensity, and geological permeability. - Drafting and Quantity Surveying: Prepare comprehensive 2D technical drawings
using CAD, derived from precise site measurements. Develop detailed Bills of Quantities
(BoQ) and comprehensive material estimates to effectively manage and control project
expenditures. - Supervision: Oversee the construction activities of pilot projects. Supervise the
installation of sensor equipment at the site and collect sensor data for reporting
purposes.
Job Specifications:
Education B.E or B.Tech. in Civil Engineering.
- Experience 3–5 years in construction supervision, specifically in water supply,
- drainage, or rainwater harvesting.
- Technical Skills Strong CAD skills (2D). Proficiency in GIS. Ability to read and interpret
toposheets, GIS data, construction drawings and surveyor maps. - Travel Willingness to travel extensively within Pune and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
