Dengue Sero-survey

Vision

To provide an early warning to public health agencies before they might be notified of positive cases for Dengue, Chikungunya, Influenza, H1N1 (Swine Flu) and RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus).

Description

A systematic review on the burden of Dengue in India observed the lack of data on the incidence of Dengue. It is difficult to determine the actual burden of Dengue due to underreporting; misdiagnoses and three-fourths of dengue infections are subclinical. For this, a prospective cohort study to estimate age-specific incidence of Dengue infection is being conducted. This study is part of a larger cohort study, DRIVEN 2020, which aims to determine the sero-prevalence as well as the incidence of SARS-CoV-2 infection in a cohort of 5000 Individuals. To achieve the objectives of Dengue, a sub-sample of already enrolled DRIVEN 2020 cohort has been selected and will be followed up for a period of 12 months.

Objectives

  • To determine the persistence of Dengue antibodies [Neutralization assays (PRNT)] in the study population.
